Role summary
Our client is a thriving architecture firm with a boutique feel, big ambitions, and a genuinely collaborative culture. With offices across the US, they've built a strong reputation delivering standout work in multifamily housing, affordable housing, senior living, and advanced manufacturing — and now they're doubling down on Austin. They need an entrepreneurial director to lead the charge: someone who loves getting out in the market, building relationships, winning work, and then delivering it brilliantly. If you've ever dreamed of growing your own office with the backing of an established firm behind you — this is that opportunity. Skills and experience • Licensed architect with strong project experience across multi-family, affordable housing, senior living, or advanced manufacturing sectors • Proven track record in business development — you know how to generate leads, build a pipeline, and close • Entrepreneurial mindset: ideally you've run your own firm or office, or you've operated with that same hunger and ownership mentality • Confident in client-facing settings — networking events, industry groups, and business lunches are your comfort zone • Experience leading and mentoring project teams through all phases of design and delivery • Strong understanding of project oversight, quality control, and multi-disciplinary coordination • Familiarity with Revit is a plus, but not a dealbreaker • Based in Austin or genuinely excited to be — the Texas market is your playground Key responsibilities • Own business development for the Austin office — attend industry events, cultivate relationships, and drive new client opportunities across Austin, Dallas, and Houston • Serve as the visible, enthusiastic face of our client's firm in the Texas market • Lead project teams from pursuit through delivery, maintaining high standards for design quality and client service • Help grow the Austin office from a tight-knit team into a thriving, scaled operation over the next few years • Collaborate with colleagues across all office locations — this is one team, not a collection of silos • Mentor and develop junior staff, creating real opportunities for growth across design phases • Contribute to firm-wide strategy as a key leader, with a clear trajectory toward associate principal Culture and benefits • Boutique firm culture — small enough to know everyone, large enough to take on landmark projects • One unified firm across multiple locations: you'll collaborate with talented colleagues nationwide, not compete with them • Clear path to associate principal with equity incentives — real upside if you help grow the business • 21 work-from-home days per year as standard, with flexibility for individual circumstances • Health insurance (medical, vision, dental) through UnitedHealthcare — the firm covers 95% of your premium • $50,000 life insurance policy included • 401(k) with a 3% employer match — contributed automatically, fully vested immediately, no waiting • Quarterly firm-wide bonuses based on cash flow • A founder-led company with a genuine long-term vision — and a seat at the table if you want it
