Design Manager | Workplace Interiors

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Interior Design Manager to join their collaborative Workplace Interiors studio in Boston. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative, strategic design leader to shape innovative workplace environments while mentoring teams and driving exceptional project outcomes. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated designer with a strong design voice, proven leadership experience, and the ability to guide projects from concept through completion. Key Responsibilities • Lead concept development and establish compelling design narratives across a diverse portfolio of workplace projects. • Drive projects from visioning and programming through design development, documentation, construction, and completion. • Partner closely with clients to understand goals, workplace culture, and business objectives, translating them into impactful design solutions. • Present design concepts and project progress confidently to clients, stakeholders, and project teams. • Curate materials, finishes, furnishings, and specifications that align with design intent, functionality, and project objectives. • Oversee project designers and mentor team members, fostering professional growth and a collaborative, creative studio culture. • Direct the development of presentation materials, renderings, schedules, budgets, and other design deliverables. • Collaborate with architects, consultants, contractors, and specialty partners to ensure seamless project coordination and execution. • Maintain design quality and ensure design intent is carried through all project phases. • Conduct facility requirements analysis, programming, conceptual design, and systems integration efforts. • Serve as a subject matter expert on major building systems, construction practices, and workplace design trends. • Support business development efforts through relationship building, industry engagement, and thought leadership. • Stay current on regulatory requirements, industry best practices, sustainability initiatives, and emerging design innovations. Skills & Experience • Professional degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field. • 10+ years of interior design experience, preferably within workplace environments. • Proven ability to lead complex projects while managing client relationships and multidisciplinary teams. • Strong portfolio demonstrating design excellence from concept development through project realization. • Expertise in workplace design, programming, strategic planning, and space planning. • Proficiency in Revit and experience with FF&E selection, detailing, and documentation. • Strong knowledge of materials, specifications, construction documentation, and building systems. • Excellent presentation, communication, organizational, and leadership skills. • Professional registration preferred. • Active participation in industry organizations, professional groups, or design-related activities strongly preferred. • Passion for innovation, sustainable design, and elevating the user experience through thoughtful design solutions.
