Bid Writer

Article 25 is seeking an experienced Bid Writer to support the next phase of its growth. This is a flexible opportunity to work with the UK's leading humanitarian architecture NGO, helping turn Article 25's technical expertise and international project experience into clear, compelling and compliant submissions. Over the past 20 years, Article 25 has completed more than 100 projects in 35 countries, working with governments, NGOs, funders and communities to deliver resilient schools, hospitals and homes. Working with the Director of Projects, project teams and external partners, the Bid Writer will take ownership of the written quality and coordination of agreed priority bids. The work will include expressions of interest, pre-qualification questionnaires, tenders, framework applications, selected competition entries and project-related funding proposals, from opportunity assessment through to submission and post-bid learning. This is a part-time, fully remote role, working closely with Article 25 colleagues and partners during agreed UK working hours. Key Responsibilities • Review tender and procurement documents, distilling the scope, eligibility requirements, evaluation criteria, submission instructions, deadlines and material risks. • Support disciplined bid/no-bid decisions and develop bid plans, compliance matrices, response structures and clear win themes for agreed priority opportunities. • Draft, edit and assemble high-quality expressions of interest, pre-qualification questionnaires, technical and quality responses, methodologies, executive summaries, case studies and supporting narratives. • Interview technical colleagues and external partners to draw out relevant evidence and translate complex architectural, engineering and construction information into concise, evaluator-focused language. • Coordinate internal contributors, consortium members and local partners through kick-off, review, approval and submission, keeping actions and deadlines on track. • Proofread and quality-assure submissions for compliance, accuracy, consistency, readability, brand alignment and professional presentation. • Maintain and improve Article 25's bid library, templates and evidence, and capture feedback and learning from successful and unsuccessful submissions. Skills and Experience • A proven track record of drafting, editing and coordinating competitive bids, proposals or funding submissions to a consistently high standard. • Exceptional written English, editing and proofreading skills, with a clear, concise and persuasive style. • The ability to read and write in French. • A sound understanding of the bid lifecycle, including opportunity qualification, compliance, response planning, review, submission and lessons learned. • An understanding of how architecture, engineering or wider built-environment consultancy services are procured and delivered, or demonstrably transferable knowledge from another professional-services environment. • Experience of working with technical experts and turning complex information into clear, persuasive and audience-focused content. • Excellent planning, prioritisation and coordination skills, including the confidence to secure timely input from several contributors and maintain quality across competing deadlines. • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365. Experience of procurement portals, Adobe InDesign or structured content libraries would be useful, but specialist software expertise is not essential. • A genuine interest in international development, humanitarian action and the role of good design in supporting safer, healthier and more resilient communities.
